Caution on blood test results for celiac 03 Jul 2008

"I had the celiac antibody test a year ago...came back negative. . .but no doubt about it - my problem is gluten." Carole H.

Hi Carole: So your blood test was wrong. Good on you for trusting your body. You know your body better than anyone and symptoms don't lie.

As you know blood tests for food intolerance are notoriously inaccurate. It's a pity your time (and money) was wasted doing it. But I'm really glad you have now had great results with the Detection Diet. You are the reason The Tuesday Club was created!

Difficulty with all blood tests for food intolerance
Have you had a blood test for Celiac Disease that came out negative? You could still have Gluten intolerance. Most doctors are still using an outdated blood test that misses NCGS (see below). But even if it is a modern blood test – that alone cannot diagnose Gluten intolerance in the majority of cases. Read Carole's story, below.

Bad reactions to Gluten (from wheat and other grains) are common - up to 15% of all people* get them. The much rarer Celiac Disease only affects ~0.3%. *References on webpage

However most doctors testing for Gluten intolerance still use a blood test (developed in the 1950s) which was designed to pick up only Celiac disease. . . and of course it misses all those other Gluten-sensitive people who are Non-Celiac Gluten Intolerant (NCGS).

Could your symptoms be NCGS? (Headache, stomach bloating, eczema, IBS, miscarriage, asthma, fluid retention, weight gain? Check your symptoms in the Symptoms Matrix, see below.

And remember, the only PROVEN method to check for any food intolerance is to keep a food journal with proper food guides. That's why we created The Tuesday Club.

Don't you want to finally get some answers? Read a member's story:

Tuesday Club member, Carole H., MI, USA:
" . . . no doubt about it - my problem is gluten. As of today, my waist is down a whopping 4 inches! No more "knot" up high in my stomach, constipation going away. Battled eczema on my face in two stubborn places for years ...GONE. Had celiac antibody test a year ago...came back negative. Amazing, huh? Tell Deborah I thank her with all my heart."

Celiac blood test misses Gluten intolerance
Even doctors admit that Gluten intolerance is poorly diagnosed. But it is a common condition. Conservative estimates say up to one in seven people* is affected. More recent research suggests as many as 30% of Americans have some level of Gluten intolerance or other food intolerance!

The usual test for Celiac Disease misses Gluten intolerance all the time. You see - Gluten intolerance is a general term. Celiac Disease is just one small part of it.

Celiac Disease is a term given to people who test positive to an old-fashioned test developed in the 1940s. It was useful back then. But unfortunately it became entrenched medical school teaching.

Most mature doctors (45+) have not heard of Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity which is much more common than Celiac Disease. Some doctors just don't keep themselves up to date and fall back on the training they received in medical school decades before.

Undiagnosed Gluten intolerance is not only awful to live with, it can damage your health.

Only an Elimination Diet gives proof
Fortunately the reliable Elimination diet, easily and conclusively identifies any food intolerance including Gluten intolerance.

Doctors know Elimination diets work. That's why they use them to confirm less reliable tests like blood tests.

And we have created an EASY VERSION of the Elimination diet called the Detection Diet. It's so accurate it's guaranteed to pinpoint your food intolerance or your money will be refunded in full.

More on the Detection Diet in The Tuesday Club.

Carole's letter continues:
"Several months ago I started receiving the foodintol newsletter and so many things began to make sense. When you told me about the milk sensitivity in your reply today and the connection with gluten? Bingo!
Guess what? I am also sensitive to milk casein (that also showed up on my test). I am finally getting the answers I have literally been on my knees praying for, for over a year.

I am so very grateful to you all. Now the pieces of this painful puzzle are beginning to fit. I want you to know that I am telling everyone that will listen about gluten, your website, etc.

Please share this with whoever could benefit and needs encouragement! I can only hope that my suffering will help someone else. Thanks for all your support. You're a doll!"

THANKYOU for your kind words Carole. It makes all our work worth the effort! I'm so pleased you are well again. Deborah
